Outbound sales usually means paying for four or five tools: a contact database, an email finder, a signals tool and a sequencer. Most of them resell the same underlying APIs with a markup on credits. Your prospect lists end up in someone else's cloud. And the new wave of "AI SDRs" sends email on its own, which is a fast way to burn a domain.
I wanted something different: let my AI assistant do the legwork of a sales development rep, call the data providers directly with my own keys, keep everything on my machine, and never send anything without asking me first. So I built OpenSDR.
OpenSDR is an MCP server, so it plugs into Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and other MCP clients. You describe who you want to reach, and your assistant:
You pay providers directly, with no markup. Every key is optional, and with no keys at all it runs in a demo mode on fictional data, so you can try every tool first.
There are five steps.
Here's a real exchange in demo mode:
Me: Meridian Pay asked us not to contact them. Push the rest into my Instantly campaign.
Claude: Preview, nothing sent yet: 4 eligible, 1 excluded (Meridian Pay, suppressed). Shall I confirm?
OpenSDR has no AI model of its own. Your assistant does the thinking and writing, and OpenSDR handles the data, verification and safe execution. That keeps it cheap and predictable, but the quality of the copy depends on the assistant you use and the seller profile you give it.
OpenSDR is at version 1.0.1 and needs Node.js 22.12 or later. Add it to Claude Code:
claude mcp add opensdr -- npx -y opensdr-mcpFor Claude Desktop, download opensdr-mcp.mcpb from the latest GitHub release and double-click it. Then ask:
Find VP Engineering leaders at fintech companies, get their emails, and check for buying signals.
Add your Apollo, Hunter or Tavily keys when you're ready for real data.
It's MIT licensed and open to contributions. If there's a provider you want, like Smartlead, Lemlist or Salesforce, open an issue.
